Jay has weird elbows that can bend the wrong way, and Wes can't spell very well so they juggle and eat Japanese food together. One of them has a routine where they do violently intricate 5 ball juggling while their feet twist around like squirrels in bumper cars. The other has a trick which ends with a used paintbrush in his mouth and a song stuck in his head. They have an act together and in it they do things that you can't find on the internet!

A playground full of shapes fills the stage ready to pop into action. Stomping down makes balls fly up, pulling up sends clubs sideways, and sideways spins keep rings from falling down. 43 Tricks interlace arms and objects into unexpected juggling contraptions.


∆   Jay Gilligan (USA) has collaborated with Cirque du Soleil, Les Sept Doigts de la Main, Cirkus Cirkör, Cie Jérôme Thomas, and the Gandini Juggling Project. His past 25 years have included performances in 26 different countries. Jay is the head teacher of juggling at the Dans och Cirkushögskolan in Stockholm, Sweden.

∆   Wes Peden (USA) won a Bronze Medal at the 33rd Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain. He has performed in 17 different countries, including shows for the King and Queen of Sweden on three separate occasions. Wes graduated from the Dans och Cirkushögskolan with a degree in juggling and lives in Stockholm, Sweden.

For the festival A Corte ( Teatro Piemonte Europa) Jérome Thomas has created a short performance in relation to Olafur Eliasson piece «The sun has no money» in the Contemporary Museum of Château de Rivoli.

Two virtuosos, one with balls and clubs, the other with his accordion, give us a one hour time show full of freedom, humour and poetry.
In this show there is a complete complicity between music and juggling art, sound and gesture. This relation has always been one key in the work of the company.


∆   Jérôme Thomas (FRANCE) is a master juggler and juggling choreographer.

After training and early work as a juggler in the circus with Annie Fratellini, and in cabaret, Jerome turned to jazz, liaising with several musicians including Bernard Lubat, Carlo Rizzo, Marc Perronne, Pascal Lloret, Alfred Spirli, Jacques Higelin, the ARFI, the Bravo Trio and Andy Aimler. These encounters led him to favour improvisational work.

After creating Artrio (1988) with Jean-Paul Autin and Carlo Rizzo, he devised Extraballe (1990) a solo piece, with choreographer Hervé Diasnas, and then Kulbuto (1991), a group composition.

In 1993, he set up the ARMO (Association for Research in the Manipulation of Objects)/Jérôme Thomas Company. Within this framework, he has produced several shows: Quipos, a rope world and Hic Hoc, a dream world (1995) ; Amani Ya Bwana, with Jambo Mambo, a group of Kenyan acrobats (1996); Le Banquet with GR 12, a research group which grew out of the Company, (1997) ; « 4 » To Finish with this for Once and For All…  in December 98 ;  IxBE, based on Extraballe, with Simon Anxolabéhère plus a short piece devised for a young juggler from the Moscow Circus School, which opened in January 2000 at the ARC, Scène Nationale du Creusot, where the Company was based.
“CIRQUE LILI » performed inside a fixed circus tent structure, marked Jérôme Thomas’s return to the circus after a long absence. It premiered at the Carré Magique in Lannion, in May 2001.
“Milkday” has be created in Theatre 71 in Malakoff in October 2003.
Pong with the swiss mime Markus Schmid has been presented in Sujet à vif” ( Festival d’Aignon/SACD 2004)
 Rain/Bow, arc après la pluie a juggling ballet in two pieces for 10 dancers-jugglers issued in February 2006 
An other group of shows including his duet with Jean François Baëz and the trio “Juggling Hands”are based on improvisation, music and juggling.
All these productions have been touring in France and largely abroad ( Europe, Asia, Africa, South and central America), often with the support of AFAA -Cultures France and Institut Français.
 In 2008, Jérôme Thomas produced with the Company Libellule et Papillons !!   show for            eight artists including a solo choreographed by Pedro Pauwels,Papillons ! street version, Sortilèges a children show and Deux Hommes Jonglaient dans Leur Tête, with the musician and composer Roland Auzet.
 His last show “ICI.” ( Here.), created with Markus Schmid and Pierre Bastien, fantastic inventor of musical machines, was issued in October 2010 . 

With help from a number of artists and support from the Théâtre 71 in Malakoff, Jérôme set up the first Festival for Contemporary &#38; Improvised Juggling in 1996. The fourth edition of this event,  took place in June 2001. 

In parallel with his work devising shows, and after a year’s teaching at the École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque in Châlons-sur-Marne (89-90), Jérôme Thomas initiated a series of workshops to instruct others in his particular method and approach to juggling. He has also worked for several years with the Moscow Circus School and is now for three years artistic consultant for Académie Fratellini. 

In October/November 2001, he was Artistic Director for the event called  « Arts de la Jongle » (“Juggling Arts) which took place at the Parc de la Villette in Paris.
Jérôme Thomas was an Honorary Committee member for the Year of the Circus.
He received the SACD Award for Circus in 2003.

∆ Valentin Lechat (FRANCE) works and lives in Taiwan.
Juggler, Contemporary artist, stage director, interpreter, musician.
Since 1992, Valentin has performed in 12 differents countries in theatre, under circus tent, cabaret, TV, street, event, ...
Trained in Circus (AEC, LIDO), in contemporary dance and theatre (CDC Toulouse, Hérvé Diasnas, Marc Verd**).
Apprentice artist juggler with Jérôme Thomas from 1999 to 2002, he participated in the creation of CIRQUE LILI.
He founded in 2005 THE UNITED ARTISTS before to leave France for a living in Asia.
In 2006, in Japan, he has met and has been inspirated the work of Hoichi Okamoto, singular puppetier. Recently i has participated to “四重奏"-“Quartett von Heiner Müller" directored by Baboo from 莎士比亞的妹妹們的劇團 as voice acteur. He taught contemporary juggling at the Chinese Opera University of Taipei from 2009 to 2011. He researches and practices daily and becomes involved in Qi Gong.

The performance of the Fire Bandit is absolutely stunning with its overwhelming flame of fire, the dancing trace of the fire in the darkness, or by creating magical atmosphere in the open air. Its style is certainly the one of a kind. It is breathtaking and takes away one's heart without knowing just like a thief does.

There's always something new expression in its performances because of welcoming performers from different fields such as dancers, actors, jugglers and so on.


∆ 火付盗賊 FIRE BANDIT (JAPAN) was originally formed as a fire performance group in
the summer of 2003 by the backpackers who are strongly fascinated by the beauty and the power of fire performance and they acquired the skills by themselves and they performed worldwide. Nori, the leader of the Fire Bandit, was also a backpacker at the time and had a vision of putting down roots of the culture of fire performance on the land of Japan and some people who sympathized with his vision have gathered
and the history has begun.

The Fire Bandit is one of the most successful fire performers in Japan. The performances take place as a headliner at festivals and at rave parties, at the parties of companies from small to big, at private parties, TV programs, TV commercials, promotion videos of the Japanese famous artists, at over seas an so on.

The performer draws facets of a human being and his invented spirits. 

    FACES臉 expresses different visions of life through  a one man metamorphosis.
∆ Dynamic feelings, dynamic gears, dynamic personalities, dynamic stories, dynamic sounds, dynamic connections with audience

    臉 takes some of its inspiration from inside cinema, artists's works, different cultures, communicating  a certain vision of Humankind. FACES has been created in Asia.

Dance, physical acting, object theatre, visual art, live music and juggling are combined on stage.
Through this medium the performer embodies a wild animal..,  the air..., underground childhood..., the unborn or already dead.., waking from a dream..., things....
- "Everything as a simple man, as an escapee or a reality maker .... finally like a woman with a monkey on her back  !?"

A space where wild beings, nomads, poets, human feelings, and impalpable forces live together by exchanging experiences, deep knoledges -- experiment and create. The United Artists's action is to connect with the culture in wich its meshes, the world tilted, in a mirror of identities, by a poetic dimension. The United Artists integrated artists have  human size skills and rather unusual ones, personal views, functioning outside all normalized models by the sad camouflage of boredom ... as far from wanting to fire using mortars FXZZ-164 on civilians.

Un espace où êtres sauvages, nomades, poètes, sentiments humains et forces impalpables vivent en échangeant des experiences, des savoirs profonds, experimentent et créent. L'action de The United Artists est de se connecter à la culture dans laquelle elle s'insère,  basculer un monde, dans un miroir aux identités, par une dimension poétique. Les artistes intégrés à The United Artists ont un savoir-faire de dimension humaine et singulière, fonctionnant hors des modèles normés des tristes camouflages de l'ennui comme loin de vouloir tirer des shoots au mortier FXZZ-164 sur des civils.

TALKS ABOUT

My body is a people which is fed by land and clay. I am at the same moment both woman and monkey.
We are invisible, we are nothing, we are empty, we are living in a parade of passions.
We are living in a double universe, 
in a double reality. 
We are living under different facets, carapaces.
In our world, things can turn side (side=crazy) suddenly.
About what we are watching, nothing is stable. 
In fact, we cannot focus on one side of the reality forever. 
Our identity, images of appearances are moving infinitely, all thetime, always. 
That is for this reason I play metamorphosis. 
I play metamorphosis by using invented people(both real people and objects people), then, I show themselves to themselves and toourself by their changing identities. 
The multitude of human aspects make the feeling appearsduring the succession of metamorphosis of them. 
The empty space between the attempts of the metamorphosis shows and draws the human being, in a simple way. 
The dance , the theater, the juggling, the puppets, the masks, theartwork, the sound-work, the cooking, the poetry, the connectivity with the environment, all live elements, the open stage for another artists are all the medians which can transmit special feelings to the audience. 
This way of transmission has to be simple, it don't need to use too much artifacts to express, people just have to follow the play, just let feel what is happening on stage as people can feel a painting board (painting is a vision in a opened window). 
I want a show with an access for anybody, any audience, like the ones have never seen any events that sort before. 
I love to be near people on my way. 
Educated by art or wild in art, the both together around Women &#38; Monkeys.

the Novel


L'avion est placé dans ma main. Je rentre dans le mental d'un pilote de ligne, l'enveloppe de mon corps appartient maintenant aux cieux. Je suis un singe tressé qui plane bien au delà de la toile habituelle. Tout est silence. Mon destin en avant soufflé derrière les vitres du hall, j'ai quitté mes attaches. En quelques heures, j'ai laissé en perdition les ravages des folles envolées d'ennuie fou ou l'on a brisé la banquise à mains nues ; malgré les coups elle gèle de surface en soumettant à nos pieds une terre blanche et absorbante, dans la déflagration symphoniquale des sièges éjectables rendus poudres, elle provoque des congères pendant la retombé, venant briser la peau veineuse de nos ancres. Mon esprit en est allé se cacher, à temps, derrière le calendrier de la cuisine. Partant, de cette indissociable civilité abdiquée, j'ai remis un baiser infini à l'amour, dans un chariot, sur un trajet qui devient vision de la nuit. Le passé stagne dans un effet de serre colorisée, il promet les lierres dans la raison du temps. J'aurais voulu naître dans une cascade d'eau laiteuse rose bonbon. Pataugeant dans de la crème mousseuse, faisant des loopings avec des serpents de courant me hissant dans le bonheur du matin fraîcheur. Là, je me serais réveillé dans une trombe d'eau luisante et florale qui m'aurais fait sourire, beaucoup sourire, rire aux éclats de belettes. L'eau coule, creé des flaques autour de mes pieds, elle forme un canal vers les traversées imaginaires des corps de singes volants sur la rue verticale aux couleurs rose comme la mise au monde.
